I am in the Alpharetta Municipal Court, defending my client against the charge of, possession of a controlled substance, and failure to maintain lane.

He was stopped on GA 400 by a law-enforcement officer because his auto crossed a solid white line.
The officers visual search of the drivers area turned up pills in a non-labeled bottle. The pills turned out to be a controlled substance.

There are two issues involved in the situation. The first is the the auto stop for failure to maintain  lane. The second issue is the charge of possessing a controlled substance without an authorizing prescription.

If the auto stop was a legal stop, the possession charge will have some merit.

If my client had continued to occupy the correct lane, then there would have been no auto stop and hence no possession charge.

When driving one must obey the traffic lane rules. Do not cross a solid white line.
A white line maybe crossed only when it becomes broken.
