It is the responsibility of any driver to maintain sufficient distance between his or her vehicle and the vehicle in front, so that if the vehicle in front slows or stops a collision is avoided. In almost every case if you rear end a vehicle you are at fault and will be charged with following too close. A vehicular accident can lead to additional charges if either of the drivers were using alcohol, recreational drugs, or have a contraband items in their vehicle. A rear end accident will lead to a charge of following too closely, and possibly more serious charges.
