Fighting client’s speeding and reckless driving in Atlanta.
Friday, March 8, 2019, 10:39 AM: I appeared in Atlanta city court with my client who had been charge with speeding and reckless driving.

Her case had been originally scheduled for arraignment on January 10, 2019.
It was re-set for today.

My client had been charged with speeding 104 mph in a 55 mph zone. This is 31 mph over the limit.
She was arrested and taken to jail for reckless driving.

Georgia code 40–6–181-Speeding:

Anyone convicted of speeding 24 to 33 mph over the posted speed limit shall have 4 points added to their Georgia Department of driver services record.

Georgia code 40–6–390–reckless driving:
Any person who drives any vehicle with reckless disregard for safety of persons or property commits the offense of reckless driving.
Reckless driving is a misdemeanor and upon conviction thereof shall be punished by a fine not to exceed $1000 or imprisonment not to exceed 12 months or a booth.

Following extensive negotiations with the prosecutor, I was able to get her reckless driving charge dismissed.
I was also able to get the 31 mph over the speed limit reduced to 24 mph over the speed limit, and she pleaded Nolo to the speeding ticket.

My client paid a fine of $750 to the court and she must complete 50 hours of community service. After the 50 hours of community service is completed her case will be closed.
