When officers and lawyers refer to your BAC they are referring to your Blood Alcohol Content. It is a measurement of how much alcohol is in your system at the time of a test. A BAC of .08 would mean that 0.08% (or one eighth of one percent) of a person’s blood is alcohol.

It takes less than 0.10% BAC (one tenth of one percent) for you to be considered as driving under the influence in Georgia. In Georgia, if your BAC is .08 or higher you are considered as driving impaired.

What is impaired at .08 BAC?

  • Impaired reasoning
  • Impaired depth perception (Meaning you have difficulty telling how far away objects are.)
  • Impaired peripheral vision (Meaning you can’t see well out of the corners of your eyes.)
  • Impaired glare recovery

How Your Behavior Changes

  • Blunted feelings
  • Lack of inhibition
  • Extroversion

All of these things are what contribute to the state of Georgia declaring you intoxicated and can classify you as being a drunk driver.

If you have been arrested for a DUI in Georgia you should contact a lawyer for legal guidance. Not all people exhibit these impairments and behavioral changes at a BAC of .08. These are general statements that may not pertain to your specific case.
