If the law officer asks you if you have been drinking alcohol you do not have to answer.

You do not have to admit to the officer that you have been drinking alcohol, if you have.  Do not say "no I have not been drinking,"  if you have been drinking,  That would be lying to a law enforcement officer.   You may instead politely refuse to answer the question and remain silent.  It is usually not wise to give law enforcement officers information  that can be used against you, if you can refuse to do so.  The questions the officers are asking you are usually used to build a case against you.
