Active Military and Dependents
Military personnel on active duty can request a Georgia driver's license/ID card renewal through the mail.

The same privilege is also extended to a military person's spouse and any licensed dependents or ID card holders living with the person who is on duty in a foreign domain or in a state other than Georgia.

Basic Requirements
1.Driver's license/ID card cannot be expired for more than 2 years.
2.Applicant must be a Georgia resident and on active duty in the military or a military dependent residing outside the State of Georgia.
3.Applicants age 64 or older must submit a completed DS-274 Vision Report form. The form can be obtained from the Forms and Manuals section of the DDS website.
Documents Required
1.Applicant must make the request in writing and include the following information:
a.Statement of Citizenship with full signature of licensee, (I am/am not a US citizen);
b.Georgia driver's license number;
c.Date of Birth;
d.Social Security Number;
e.Out of State Mailing address, can be a PO Box or APO;
f.Georgia Resident Address.
2.Applicant must submit a confirmation letter on military letterhead. Confirmation letter must be signed by the Commanding Officer and state that the applicant is currently in the military or an active duty military dependent living outside of the State of Georgia.
3.No changes to personal information can be made while renewing by mail. Changes to name, address, etc. must be done in person at a Customer Service Center.
4.Submit a personal pre-printed check or money order payable to the Georgia Department of Driver Services and mail to:
