 GA drivers can't touch cell phones while driving.


Effective July 1, 2018 drivers in Georgia can no longer touch their cell phones while driving.

This means no texting and no handheld phone conversations. 

GA code 40-6-241.2, forbids texting while driving in Georgia.
GA code 40– 6–241(c), forbids holding or supporting a cell phone with any part of the body while driving in Georgia. 

Conviction of 40–6 – 241.2 or 40–6–241(c) for the first offense is punishable by one point and $50 fine. 
Conviction of a second offense is punishable with two points and $100 fine. 
Conviction of a third offense is punishable by three points and $150 fine.
