What is the Georgia move over law?
The Georgia move over law is intended to protect the safety of emergency workers who are working on the side of the roadway.
The Georgia move over law requires that you move your vehicle one lane over if it is possible, when you see emergency lights flashing on the shoulder of the highway. If you cannot move your vehicle over safely to the far lane, the Georgia law requires you to slow down below the speed limit, and be prepared to stop your vehicle.
