High Occupancy Vehicle lanes in Georgia are travel lanes on roadways that are restricted to vehicles with more than one occupant, buses, motorcycles, and vehicles with Alternative Fuel Vehicle license plates. The HOV lanes are marked with a diamond symbol and the hours of restriction are posted. The fine for violating HOV lane restrictions are up to $75 for a first offense; up to $100 for a second offense; up to $150 for a third offense; and up to $150 plus one point added to the violator’s driving record of the violator for a fourth or additional offense.
