Falling asleep while driving is a serious problem. It is estimated by the AAA that approximately 6,500 fatalities occur annually in the USA, because of drowsy driving.   A recent survey by AAA revealed that approximately 30% of drivers surveyed admitting to driving and having a hard time keeping their eyes open.
This cause of death may be completely preventable. If you are having difficulty staying awake while driving, stop your car at a rest stop and get some rest. Get out of your car walk around and invigorate yourself before getting back in the car to resume your driving. Plan your trip so that you can stop every hour or two.  Get out of the car stretch your muscles and joints. Walk around and become invigorated before resuming your trip.
It is always best to have a passenger with you to engage you in conversation, and to share the driving.
