Getting client’s reckless driving charge reduced in Alpharetta.

Wednesday, February 20, 2019, at 3:00 PM:
I appeared with my client in Alpharetta Municipal Court.
He was charged with reckless driving and too fast for conditions.

Apparently, my client had been revving his engine at a red light and accelerated too fast for conditions.

Georgia code- 40-6-390 Reckless driving:
Reckless driving in Georgia is a criminal charge and is defined as operating a vehicle with reckless disregard for the safety of persons or property.

Persons convicted of reckless driving will have 4 points added to their Georgia Department of driving record.

Georgia code 40 – 6–180- too fast for conditions:
Persons found guilty of driving too fast for conditions may have added 2 to 6 points on their Georgia Department driving record.

After much negotiation with the prosecutor, I got to court to agree to reduce the reckless driving charge to a basic rules violation, if my client performs 25 hours of community service, completes a defensive driving course, and pays a court fine.
