If you are the driver of a vehicle that is involved in an accident, that causes injury to a person, or damage to another vehicle or to property, you are required to stop your vehicle and do the following:
You must give your name and address to the owner of the other vehicle or the owner of the property that you damaged or to the person that you injured.
You must render assistance to any injured party.
You must remain at the scene of the accident until the responding law-enforcement officers arrive.
Leaving the scene of any accident in which damage is done to a person or object, is considered a hit and run in the state of Georgia and punishable as a criminal misdemeanor.
