Many cars today are equipped with Lane departure warning systems. The LDW System is intended to alert you when your vehicle unintentionally, moves out of your Lane. This warning may be with the sound of an alarm or a vibration in the steering wheel or seat.
It has been estimated that LDW systems could reduce the potential for head on collisions by as much as 50%.  This sounds very promising however, actual data to confirm this claim  is not available now.

Should I include this technology in the purchase of my next vehicle?
Lane departure accidents total approximately 1.6 million vehicle collision every year.
Any technology that could reduce this large number would be welcomed, and drivers who have used this technology, believe that it makes them safer and would purchase the technology again.
