Operating a vehicle with an expired tag.

My last call today was from a lady with questions about her expired tag.

She had failed to get her tag renewed by the expiration date.

I advised her not to drive the unregistered vehicle, but rather get a friend or a taxi to take her to the nearest motor vehicle registration office to get her vehicle registration renewed.

Georgia code 40–2–8 says it is unlawful to operate an unregistered vehicle without a current license plate or decal on any public highway or Street.

Any person convicted of this charge will be guilty of a misdemeanor and shall be punished by a fine of $100.
