In a recent national Highway safety survey of 55 busy intersections, the following was concluded.
There was a demonstrated 40% overall reduction in vehicle crashes. Bodily injuries sustained in the crash were reduced by 75%. There was an 80% decrease of fatilities or incapacitating injury sustained in intersections where roundabouts had been installed. A 70% reduction in fatalities and incapacitating injuries noted for rural roundabouts.
Based on these encouraging statistics, The rate of construction of new roundabouts is increasing in the US.
