Police using license plate readers:
According to WSB TV,Atlanta police are using license plate readers to solve crimes.The readers can scan vehicle license plates on the right and left side, even if the car is going in the opposite direction.
They also record the GPS location, date, and time, to identify stolen cars or wanted people for the police.
This technology is in its infancy and may be with us for the foreseeable future.
There are some people who voice concerns about collecting information on everybody in order to go after a small portion of the population.
