On April 30, an alleged bank robber from Michigan killed himself in Alpharetta as police were closing in to arrest him. The Alpharetta police department was working with a Michigan detective to seize the suspect who Michigan authorities had identified as responsible for several bank robberies.

Around 4:00 pm on April 30, the suspect was located traveling southbound out of Forsyth County and entering Alpharetta. Once the suspect—whose name still has not been released—was spotted in the city, police began a pursuit. This led to a slow-speed car chase through Alpharetta. As the suspect entered the strip mall at the intersection of Old Milton and North Point parkways, he was stuck in traffic and unable to lose the police.

Once police surrounded the suspect, he took out a gun and shot himself. He was officially pronounced dead at the scene.

The unnamed suspect is in his 40s with a medium build. He was suspected of holding up a bank in St. Clair County, Michigan, over the weekend, and there is evidence connecting him with numerous other bank robberies in Michigan.

The staff at the Law Office of Scott Miller regrets the tragedy here. Our thoughts go out to the suspect’s friends and family members, who will be finding out about his death shortly, as well as to those bystanders who may have experienced considerable distress during this incident and during earlier robberies. Our felony defense law firm holds fast to our conviction that there are better solutions for people accused of serious criminal offenses.
