The mayor of Atlanta, Kasim Reed, is calling attention to what he is calling a turnstile situation. He is warning the community that criminals convicted of violent crimes are being released back into the community. He has named Fulton County officials as responsible.

While crime is actually down 18 percent from last year, Mayor Reed still wants to step up police patrols in Atlanta. He said, "I would not describe it as a wave, but we are going to use extraordinary measures to suppress crime because I care about how people feel at home.”

Reed says that Fulton County Jail has been releasing criminals back into the community who he feels do not deserve to be let out. He is worried about the criminals who are arrested and then immediately put back into the community. He is asking that Fulton County step up in his attempt to keep this from happening.

There were 85 murders last year in the city, but Fulton County needs to worry about both the city and the surrounding areas when focusing on these criminals.

This is why it is more crucial than ever to hire the right attorney for your defense. With backing from the mayor, judges will be harder on criminals for felonies and misdemeanors and will keep you in jail for a longer period of time.

If you have been arrested and need a defense attorney, call the Law Offices of Scott Miller. Scott Miller is an experienced defense attorney in Fulton County and he will give you the representation you deserve during your trial. Don’t become a victim of Reed’s plan to increase punishments.
