July 5, 1775 the Olive branch petition is adopted by the Continental Congress in an attempt at reconciliation between the colonies and Great Britain. Of course 364 days later the declaration of independence marked the birth of a new country the United States of America, and the final break with Britain.
July 5, 1865 is the birthday of the Salvation Army. It was founded by William Booth and his wife Catherine. It was established as a Christian mission to fight poverty and religious in difference with military efficiency.

According to the AJC.com, the police department of Milton, Georgia will host a series of self-defense courses for women.
These courses will teach defending yourself against rape.
The Milton police department says that, "the classes will teach basic self-defense, and how to recognize, avoid, resist, and escape, harmful situations."
The cost for the class is $40.
