October 1, 2012- I accompanied my client to Fulton County Superior Court for a sentencing hearing.  She had been arrested and charged with financial fraud and theft by receiving. During her arrest she confessed to the crimes. The prosecutor wanted my client to serve one year in the State penitentiary system and then serve 10 years of probation. He also wanted her to reimburse the complete amount of the fraud to the victim. I was able to convince the prosecutor and the judge that she should not spend any time in the State penitentiary system and that the repayment plan should be reduced.  She was given a probated sentence only and the repayment amount was reduced to what she could afford to pay.
