Fighting client’s shoplifting charge in Forsyth Magistrate Court

On Thursday, October 26, I appeared with my client in Forsyth Magistrate Court to fight his second in a lifetime shoplifting charge.

On my clients previous charge, we had negotiated a pretrial diversion which means that my client could obtain and earned dismissal following completion of several steps.

Following negotiations with the court on the second in a lifetime charge, I was able to get my client enter a first offender plea.

A first offender plea is often used for a felony charge, however in this particular case it seemed appropriate to use it for a misdemeanor shoplifting charge.
