On my clients previous charge, we had negotiated a pretrial diversion which means that my client could obtain and earned dismissal following completion of several steps.
Following negotiations with the court on the second in a lifetime charge, I was able to get my client enter a first offender plea.
A first offender plea is often used for a felony charge, however in this particular case it seemed appropriate to use it for a misdemeanor shoplifting charge.
