Shoplifting is a crime in Georgia punishable by a fine and possible jail time. There are two types of shoplifting charges in Georgia, felony and  misdemeanor.  Felony shoplifting is a crime where greater than $300.00 in value of merchandise was taken.  Misdemeanor shoplifting is a crime in which less than $300.00 in value of merchandise was taken.
