A scam that is on the rise in the metro Atlanta area is the illegal credit card interest rate reduction scam. Often the calls are received in the evening. These are usually Robo calls. This is simply a computer calling all numbers in each location. When the phone is answered people are scammed by someone offering interest rate reduction plans that do not exist.
The caller entices the victim to pay a fee up front for these nonexistent services.
Do not respond to unsolicited telephone calls. Do not give your credit card information to anyone by telephone unless you initiated the call, and you know for sure who you are speaking with.  Every year millions of dollars are illegally taken from the American public by these unscrupulous criminals.
