Don't fall for the Bite Con Game. This type of scam has resurfaced in the metro Atlanta area. It consists of telling someone a hard luck story in hopes that it will entice the victim to give money for what appears to be a worthy and charitable cause. These unscrupulous individuals use the names of national and local charities to commit fraud. They may call and falsely state that they are representing a local charity, hospital, veterans group, or any other group that may tug at your heartstrings.
If you wish to contribute to a local or national Charity, look for their contact numbers on the Internet and initiate the call yourself. Millions of dollars are swindled from the American public annually.
